An Honest Review: Jan & Jul Women’s Waterproof Jacket
As a nature program leader and mama of two in Minnesota, I love getting into nature as much as possible. When Jan & Jul released their first women’s waterproof jacket last year, I was beyond thrilled. After years of watching my oldest roll in the mud, stay dry in the rain and protected from harsh winter winds with Jan & Jul’s gear – finally, a high-quality waterproof jacket for me!
Moms Deserve the Same Great Protection
My favorite thing about the Women’s Pacific Rain Jacket is that it really IS 100% waterproof. Throughout the years I have wasted money on other brands that either (despite the claims) weren’t actually waterproof or weren’t breathable at all – leaving me damp, sweaty and cold. Having adequate, high quality gear while teaching or exploring with my kids has been a total game changer.
Amazingly Versatile, Just Grab and Go
This waterproof jacket has been my go-to outer layer all fall, winter and spring. I love the versatility! I’ve worn it out running errands, hiking in the rain or layering up to snowshoe in January. Because the material is so windproof, I even stay warm down to -25F/-32C windchill temperatures by layering a thin down sweater underneath. The breathable fabric also makes it comfortable to wear in warmer weather.

As all moms know – our bodies change so much from having children. The Pacific Rain Jacket is not only practical, but adjustable and flattering on different body types. I was actually able to wear mine through my entire pregnancy last year because the 2-way zipper and adjustable waist accommodated my baby bump. And as my body continued to change postpartum, it was easy to adjust the jacket so I could look and feel my best. The generous length also covers my bum, giving me that extra coverage and protection.
A good women’s waterproof jacket has been an invaluable investment not only for me, but for my family as well. It’s allowed me to spend more time doing what I love – enjoying the outdoors with my new baby and 4 year old in every type of weather!
