Meet Our Founder – Florence Luo

“Growing up playing in the dirt, I’ve always believed in the power and magic of getting little ones out into nature.”

Growing up in a cotton producing area in rural China, Florence learned to make clothing at a young age, from hand spinning and dying, to knitting and sewing. At the age of 25, Florence left China on a scholarship to pursue engineering at the University of Minnesota. Years later, with two small children in tow, Florence and her family settled in Vancouver, Canada where she turned her original idea of the Gro-With-Me® adjustable sun hat to a fan-favourite product.

In 2008, local Vancouver stores began stocking her sun hats. As the business grew, Florence created Twinklebelle Design Inc. and later rebranded as Jan & Jul – short for January and July – a brand for kids’ all-weather clothing. Learn more about Florence’s journey here.
