The Perfect Kids Fall Jacket for the Wet West Coast
Growing up on the West Coast, you learn early about changing weather. Just because it’s raining outside, is no reason to stay home. Want to know key to a successful adventure in the rain? Make sure you have everybody outfitted in the right gear! Last year, I was looking for a kids fall jacket. We found Jan & Jul’s Puddle-Dry Jacket and have been super impressed with it.
Designed for Kids to Move Freely
This rain jacket fits longer in the back to provide extra coverage from all the splashing around in puddles. It also has a nice tapered yet roomy fit. It has elasticized wrist cuffs to stay on snug and keep water out. As well as great big pockets for holding ALL the treasures we collect along our adventures. The way the hood can be adjusted, and the wide brim keeps the rain off my son’s face is a great feature.
I asked my son his favourite thing about his Puddle-Dry jacket, and he said it feels really nice and flexible. He can easily move around in it, climb trees and monkey bars, and chase his friends on the playground. And I love that at the end of the day it can go in the wash and comes out clean as new!
Great for Layering
We take hikes on some fairly cold days and have found these kids jackets are well sized and provide lots of room to layer underneath year-round. We’ve paired the jacket with a fleece for a hike in February, worn it with a light sweatshirt in the spring and fall, and I throw it in my backpack on days that look like it might rain in the summer. It’s a lightweight shell which compacts nicely so it’s easy to pack along “just in case”.
Designed with Safety in Mind
And because we all know how quick kids are and how hard they can be to spot on a dark rainy day, the thoughtful addition of the reflector strips on the jacket brings me peace of mind. I chose the bright yellow colour for that reason too. He’s easy to spot while exploring off trail in the forest. The classic yellow colour makes it the cutest kids fall jacket!
100% Waterproof
Whether on a hike in the rain, or walking to school, the Puddle-Dry Jacket has always kept us dry. I’ve been really impressed with how well it is waterproofed! There are so many kids jackets on the market that look waterproof but turn out to only be “water-resistant”. That is why I have been so happy to see how well the Puddle-Dry Jacket holds up in the rain. I love that they are such good quality. This is one of those products that is 100% worth investing in early as you will get multiple years wear out of it.
Now when we see the weather forecast is calling for rain, we don’t put off playing outside – we gear up and head out! Because honestly, those rainy days are some of our favourites.
