An Honest Review: The Best Women’s Waterproof Jacket!
Finding the best women’s waterproof jacket was such a challenge! Over the years, I’ve tried expensive name-brand jackets that always seemed to fall short. Either they weren’t actually waterproof, weren’t breathable, or didn’t fit well. I’ve always been a fan of Jan & Jul gear for my kids and had to give their women’s jackets a try. So, here’s my honest review and some tips in finding the best fit!
First Impressions
As a “tall” 4’9” woman with wide hips, I struggled to find a high-quality jacket that worked for me. I started to wonder if the perfect jacket even existed for my body type! At thigh length, the Jan & Jul jackets eliminated my issues of shorter jackets being too tight around the hips or riding up over them, leaving the legs wet. Wet jeans? Ick, no thanks!
Features to Look Out For
Both the Pacific and Atlantic style jackets are waterproof, breathable, and windproof. I noticed the outer fabric of the Atlantic jacket is softer which causes it to look wet more easily. But with the waterproof membrane and taped seams, I still stayed totally dry! I love the deep zippered pockets and the zippered inside pocket. It’s convenient to carry my phone and all the snacks, as well as the inevitable treasures my kids will find!
The Fit: Pacific Rain Jacket
Now let’s chat about the fit for both these styles. They’re slightly different so you can find the best women’s waterproof jacket for you. The Pacific Rain Jacket is quite roomy, especially around the hips which is perfect for me. It has an adjustable waist with an elastic drawstring that you can take in for an hourglass shape. It also has velcro adjustments on the cuffs and hood.
The Fit: Atlantic Rain Jacket
The Atlantic Rain Jacket has a more streamlined design and works well for broader shoulders. Unlike the Pacific that has the adjustable velcro hood, the Atlantic features an adjustable drawstring for better peripherals. I could wear this jacket in the forest with my little ones, but also feel stylish walking the streets of New York City. Not to mention the Atlantic comes in some beautiful colour ways!
After wearing my Pacific Jacket almost daily for a year, it has held up exactly as I’d hoped. Lately with the weather warming up, I’ve found myself reaching for the new Atlantic Rain Jacket too. I’m ecstatic to have found these styles that I actually love wearing over my other name-brand jackets. I hope this blog post helps you find the best women’s waterproof jacket for you!
